Our Growing Family Timeline
Adoption has been on my heart for as long as I can remember. I was intrigued by any and all types of adoption, so it shouldn't be a surprise to me that our story took several different turns than I originally expected!! We began the foster care process two different times, only to be moved in different directions each time. I can't remember what happened, but we had to stop each process for one reason or another. When I finally met the age requirement for Ethiopia, we started our international adoption. We got approved from America World Adoption Agency and placed on the wait list and then I found out I was pregnant with Adelyn! The Ethiopian process began to slow down considerably, so we felt the Lord put foster care back in our hearts. When Adelyn was around 6 months old we started the foster care process through Buckner. This time all the doors stayed open and we made it to our home study! During the home study our case worker asked if we were open to siblings and older kids. We said sure even though we really expected to get an infant. The next day our case worker called and asked if we were serious about the older siblings because they had a brother and sister that they loved and wanted to keep together. We said yea sure! Then a few days later we met our big kids, Anna (7yrs) and Ezra (5yrs). We had our placement before our license even got finished. Then 18 months later, after incredible miracles we were able to adopt our big kids. We adopted them in December 2015 and I had found out a few months earlier that I was pregnant again. We felt like we were at such a different point in our lives from when we started the Ethiopian adoption that we needed to withdraw our names from the wait list. I don't know what the reason was for that chapter in our lives, but I know for sure God knows and we felt peace about our decision. Then we welcomed our fourth baby, Alyse in July 2016. Our unique family has grown very fast and we are so blessed that God has allowed us to be a part of this story.
