Pancake Party!

Last weekend we had our college group over for a party! We have two bible studies that have blended together for a few months now and we wanted everyone to get to really hang out with each other! We had a great time!! We had pancakes with more toppings than  you can imagine! Breakfast casserole, pigs in a blanket, cereal, milk, orange and apple juice! Top it all off with a warm brownie!

July 4th!

Ryan and I had a great time on July 4th! I was a little sad we did not have my family's pool to hang out during the day, but we made it work anyway.  We watched the hot dog eating contest at Ryan's grandparent's, and enjoyed their pool, stopped by a bbq birthday party, whopped up on some people at ladders, then ended the day with a wonderful time at our local park's firework show. Enjoy the pictures!

Triggers

This morning I had a brunch date with some awesome friends :)  We just shared what was going on in our hearts and how our relationship with the Lord is going. I haven't felt this refreshed in a long time! It was a great way to start my day! One of the things we talked about were triggers.

We all have different traits that rear up when we are falling away from God. I, for example, am very aware that when I stop focusing on God and finding my fulfillment in Him, I tend to start knit picking my home decor. I start putting my focus on how to make my house look a certain way and my materialism issue starts to just bubble over! It is very obvious and is never fulfilling and I'm never happy with any of the decisions I make for the house. My friends each had totally different unwanted tendencies that are heighten when their relationship is not focused on God.

Instead of wallowing in our negative tendencies, we started talking about what triggers us in the opposite direction. What things really get us in the mood for a good solid quiet time with the Lord? Or what makes us really feel alive in worship? I was trying to think of what my trigger is. I left the brunch feeling so happy and relaxed. I think that might be a trigger. Good fellowship with christian friends talking about God. I also really like to have a big glass of chocolate milk along with some yummy breakfast, open the curtains in the morning, and read with the sunlight shining in.

We talked about how when we start noticing our negative triggers, we should try and replace them with our positive triggers. Instead of giving into our sinful desires of things that leave us feeling empty, we should lean into the things that make us happy and focused on Christ.

One Year Ago

Memorial Weekend 2011.

Packed Up and headed to Tuscaloosa.

Spent the days moving debris.

The green line is the path of the tornado.

On a lighter note: A epic night spent dancing the night away!
Even our McDonald worker joined the party!

Great night.

Lots of bernie moments on this trip...

Ahhh. The memories.

It is trips like this, that makes me truly believe the best way to get connected and build relationships with people is to serve with them. Work hard, play hard.

Called to Help!

In January, Ryan and I took about 30 college students to Passion.Passion is a college aged conference that held over 40000 people! Out of those 40000 people, we break up into small groups. Those small groups consisted of about 8-10 people. In my totally random, find two strangers, make a group, small group, I met Rebekah and Will. They happened to be adopting from Ethiopia! (love it!!-Thanks God!!) They had just gotten their referral for a two month old baby boy they named Israel. Fast forward to April, and they have gotten all the clearances they need and are going to pick up baby Israel!! They leave very soon and are doing some last minute fundraising. The flights to Ethiopia are EXPENSIVE!!!

If you want to help them chip away at the costs, head on over to Rebekah's blog and buy some of her super cute stuff!!! Here is the link : Saying Yes to Adoption

Here is a sneak preview of some of the items she is selling:
Hurry though! She is shipping on Friday!
