Peace.

Today I woke up and felt very peaceful. I am peaceful, relaxed, and excited. It is a very strange feeling to know that you are about to have your life changed. I am ready and willing.
Can't say the same for my pup Jovie. She is running around whining like a crazy dog. Funny how dogs know when stuff is going on.

On a different note, we have prayed with more people than ever before. It is such a cool feeling. Everyone should experience this, and we haven't even left yet!!

Bible Verse for today compliments of Ryan.

Isaiah 6:8
Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying,
“Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”
And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”

These hands are not my own...

I always hear people use the phrase "God's hands were all over it" and I just shake my head or smile and think thats neat. I never really experienced it in a big, eye opening kind of way. Until this week. As we prepare for our mission trip I have seen it several times. I want to blog it so that I will not forget it!

Ryan is going to be working on water pumps or something like that. The pumps the Nicaraguans had got stolen, so we were asked to buy new pumps. Long story short, random people have come through and purchased all three of the pumps that our team needs. (These aren't cheap, like several hundred each I believe) So what was reallllly good and exciting!!

Next Ryan specifically prayed to God that we would raise around $300-$400, so we could buy toys and extra things to leave in Nicaragua, after like only 3 days we had over $500! Can we say God listens??

Our team leader has told Ryan over and over again how different this project is already from any of the normal eMi projects. What he means is when they picked Ryan for this trip they didn't reallly need a mechanical engineer but they would find something for Ryan and I to do, now they have been needing Ryan ALOT for help with these pump things! So it turned out perfect that he is on this particular project after all!

As for me. Well I have been a bit of a worry wart about this whole trip. The other day we finally got our packet in the mail with our itinerary and some additional information. One packet had some advice that was exactly what I needed to hear to know that I am not alone in how I felt about this trip...Here is what is said, "As the time draws nearer, you are likely to realize just how inconvenient the timing of your trip actually is. In addition to the pressures of leaving your ordinary commitments, you may also experience the spiritual warfare of discougement, distractions, and doubt that seem to make this a particulary bad time to go.
You are in a very real battle against a very real enemy who wants to destroy your commitment to this mission trip" Let me tell you, the devil was winning BIG TIME! I was so nervous that I couldn't even begin to be excited about the trip.

Lately when I think about the trip all I think is what if I get sick, or get sick when I get back from the trip. These thoughts have been CONTROLLING me. Until last night. God finally opened my eyes to the VERY obvious fact that this trip IS. NOT. ABOUT. ME!! I replaced all my visions of getting sick with visions of helping and playing with Nicaraguan children. I started thinking about all the awesome things God is doing in a different part of the country that I am going to get to be a part of. I also started remembering that so what if stuff goes bad?? God is there and we as Christians are called to Go.

Long post. Lots to say. More to come I am sure!!

all about arin...

This blog should be titled all things Arin wants, but I wanted to go with the alliteration of "all about Arin".

Here are the things I want in my life RIGHT now: (no particular order)

To internationally adopt a baby
Foster an American baby
To have a baby the old fashion way
Open a place/shelter for homeless women and expectant mothers.
Have enough money to not worry about money
Be free of headaches- forever.
Not be nervous about this Nicaragua trip
Have the ability to discern from things I want and things God wants
See a difference in my body after working out these past two weeks
Figure out the priority of these things.

That is pretty much it. Could the list get any longer or harder???

Blah. My brain hurts from thinking about all this stuff. I would really appreciate a message from God that says "Aaaarrinnnn....doooo thiiisss....___________...." Thanks God! That would be spectacular!
However, I do not for see that happening, so maybe I should just pray, pray, pray.

Well Happy Saturday! Check out this super cute family I came across today...WinterInEthiopia... How cute is their little boy!?

Talking Donkey

I know everyone has heard of the "normal" unusual situations like Jonah and the whale and Noah's Ark, but in the past few days I have learned two new stories that blow my mind.  When I hear them I think, did that say what I think it said?

Story #1 was brought to my attention by one of my good friends. I had never heard about the sun literally standing still. Joshua 10:13 clearly says, "So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the nation avenged itself on its enemies, as it is written in the Book of Jashar. The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day." Really?? How impossible is that?? Could you imagine the sun staying up for a whole day?? What would you do if you witnessed that??

Story #2 I just stumbled across while reading. Have you ever heard of the talking donkey?? I sure hadn't and neither had Ryan. Numbers 22:28-30 says, "And the LORD opened the mouth of the donkey, and she said to Balaam, “What have I done to you, that you have struck me these three times?” Then Balaam said to the donkey, “Because you have made a mockery of me! If there had been a sword in my hand, I would have killed you by now.” The donkey said to Balaam, “Am I not your donkey on which you have ridden all your life to this day? Have I ever been accustomed to do so to you?” And he said, “No."' This Balaam guy just replies to the donkey without a second thought?? God thinks of the darnedest things!

Anyway the point that was proven me to and told to me over and over again is that God can do whatever he wants. My friend that just got back from Vietnam talked about struggling with "What am I going to do in the short time I am over there??" I totally was having this same feeling toward Nicaragua. Call it lack of faith, but it seemed so (dare I say...) impossible for me to make THAT much of a difference in the few days I am over there.  However, isn't this exactly what the Bible is for? To show us examples of how common ordinary people do extraordinary things thanks to our great big God.  I am amazed at God's timing to bring these stories into my life at this particular time. Today I am feeling uber-confident today that I can make a difference in people's lives in Nicaragua because God is using ME to do it. I am following His will and going and He is going to use me. Why else would He bring us there?

So to sum it all up. God can and will do whatever He wants and I get to be a part of something cool. Maybe not as extravagant as the sun standing still or witnessing a talking donkey, but you never know! The best way to be a part of all the greatness that is God is to give your life over to him and that is exactly what I am trying to do! Watch out world!!

Hiatus...

I believe this might be the longest I have gone without a blog since I started a couple months ago! Unfortunately it was a combination of being super busy and not having much to write about. I still don't have any mind blowing topics (not that any ever are), so I will just fill in with that I have been busy doing!
I started trying to read the bible in 90 days. I am doing okay, but hit the hard stuff pretty fast. What I mean by hard is like chapters and chapters of how to build a tabernacle, what priests should wear, animals that are unclean, yada yada yada. I know I will shortly be on the family lines which should be even morrrrre exciting :)  I have started taking classes at the gym. Yahhhh, I love them, and I hope, hope, hope I can keep going!! We painted our college class two nights last week. It looks great! It makes me just want to go sit in there.

Two weeks into my new years resolution and a Monday and a Tuesday with out TV down!

Nicaragua is coming up soon and I am semi starting to panic and get really excited all at the same time!
I saw this verse on Francis Chan's blog and thought it was perfect... So I will end with this...(Hopefully a better blog soon!)
“You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you,
because he trusts in you.  Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD GOD is an everlasting rock.”  Isaiah 26:3-4

Dahh Dahhh Dah Dah Dahhh

Okay so maybe not quite, but insert The Office theme song here...

Ryan and I have been super motivated this break and have done some MUCH needed house repairs.
First off, our living room!

 Nice new floors!! Brand: Pergo

I baked and played spider solitaire while the boys worked...

Now, after that (which took about a day and a half from start to finish) we tackled my office!

I just love it! The floors and the office really help complete the house.
